Garden Gate Magazine
  Browse a sample Issue
Not just for the beginner, a great resource for all gardeners with design suggestions which include plants and quantities needed, and no advertising.   They do give Mail–order sources for featured plants and products they review. I especially appreciate the pest watch and weed watch in each issue, and refer back to my old issues often.   Who says "you can´t teach an old dog new tricks" … the reader tips have taught me quite a few new tricks over the years!

Horticulture Magazine   This magazine started my interest in gardening back in 1994 but they have been Inspiring Gardeners for 100 years!   Interesting articles, and always something new.

Lee Valley &veritas® A Gardeners Journal

Gardens Journal
Every gardener must have a journal to record their gardening triumphs (and occasional mishaps). This is a 10 year journal with large pages and is a sturdy hardcover journal.   Plenty of space for recording all your gardening information and a resource of information in one place.

It has lots of pages for diagrams and planning your garden, plus an organized place for 10 years of garden notes.   I've had mine for several years now and it has stood the test of time, and even with the help of some computer software in todays wonderful world of technology… I´ve not replaced this way of keeping information about my gardening adventures!

There is something about blogging on paper and being able to take it out to the garden to read and write notes about the progress or making plans for ´next year´. It has also been a constant reminder of what was planted where, and every spring I rely on that journal to set me on the right path with my most recent plan.     Hint to those that ask, that you have a ´wish list´ and where to find it, or order one for a special gardener as a gift!

Sweet Peet's web site

SP logo We've got our horror stories about mulches, but I'm going to rave about this stuff… so you'd think I invented it or sell it   (I didn't and I don't).   But ´How Sweet It Is´   Well it's probably available everywhere since it was featured in the Martha Stewart Living magazine.   A family-owned operation, Salem Organics, created and patented this great mulch. It's versatility as both a mulch and a soil conditioner delights green thumbs everywhere!   It has many other benefits plus safe to use around your home where children might play.   The video on their website is very interesting to see how this product is created.

Sweet Peet is best know for its 100% organic nature (no caustic chemicals needed!) the earthy, sweet smell, fine natural texture, and rich dark color.   The ingredients are a well balanced blend of virgin wood shavings, horse manure, and plant fibers. The deep brown color results when tannins are baked in during the composting process. As a mulch, which is eventually worked into the soil, Sweet Peet enriches, nourishes and sweetens my garden beds for healthy maintenance of existing flowers and shrubs.   In addition, Sweet Peet helps create an excellent environment for future plants to thrive.
